The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has clarified that candidates seeing the “No Result Yet” status while checking their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, results are predominantly underage applicants whose results have not been released.
The Board, in a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, on Tuesday, said it had received multiple inquiries from concerned parents seeking explanations for the status.
Benjamin explained that the development is in line with JAMB’s age eligibility policy, which stipulates that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are qualified to sit for the UTME.
“Please be informed that results for underage candidates have not been released. When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet,” he stated.
He, however, noted that underage candidates are not entirely excluded, as provisions exist for exceptional cases based on outstanding performance.
“Underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80 percent in subsequent screening stages,” Benjamin said.
According to him, the arrangement follows an agreement reached with parents of affected candidates, under which only those who meet the high performance threshold would be shortlisted for further screening.
“Only candidates who score 320 and above will be invited to proceed to the next stages. Those who are successful may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates provision,” he added.
The Board reiterated that, for now, results of all underage candidates remain withheld pending the completion of the outlined screening process.
