James Popoola has emerged as one of the twelve winners at the Limitless Without Borders Conference (LWB) 4.0 Lagos Edition 2026, held at Queens Park Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event drew more than 1,000 attendees from various states across Nigeria and beyond. It featured keynote sessions, career and business panels, practical workshops, a startup pitch competition, the LWB Lagos Awards, and a networking reception designed to connect participants with potential collaborators and opportunities.

The LWB Lagos Awards recognise outstanding professionals, entrepreneurs and creators making significant contributions across different sectors. Popoola received the Diaspora Bridge Builder award, one of twelve categories. He was selected from 10 shortlisted nominees drawn from hundreds of applicants in his category, based on his work as International Youth Liaison with Afro Free Culture Crowdsourcing Wikimedia (AfroCROWD).

“The Lagos edition represents a major expansion of the organisation’s mission, with organisers describing it as a dedicated chapter designed to address the ambitions and realities of Nigerian professionals, founders and creators building globally competitive careers and businesses from Nigeria,” said Rukayat Alabi, Founder of Limitless Without Borders.

Popoola, the Diaspora Bridge Builder winner, said: “I want to use this opportunity to encourage every young person out there doing amazing work but who does not have any form of appreciation. Keep up the good work. Your effort is not a waste. This award is a recognition of my past decade of experience as a social entrepreneur, nation builder and impact maker, and an encouragement to continue my work as a bridge builder in Africa and beyond. Most interventions are organised by foreigners who do not have an understanding of what the African context means.”

This year, Youthford Fellowship, founded by Popoola, received over 500 applications from 22 countries within three weeks of announcing its maiden edition. The fellowship comprises 100 current students from 18 countries and 50 campuses. The programme trains and prepares them for the world beyond the classroom, an area the current academic curriculum does not adequately cover.

James Popoola is a globally recognised Nigerian entrepreneur, multi-published author, global speaker and trainer with a passion for helping young people overcome limiting mindsets. He currently serves as International Youth Liaison for Afro Free Culture Crowdsourcing Wikimedia (AfroCROWD). He is also the founder of Youthford Fellowship and Executive Director of Rootrise Youth Development Initiative.
