A large voter turnout and peaceful conduct marked the House of Representatives bye-election in Dawakin Kudu–Warawa Federal Constituency on Saturday, raising optimism ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Across polling units visited in both Dawakin Kudu and Warawa local government areas, voters turned out in significant numbers to cast their ballots in an orderly atmosphere.
The election featured candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Electoral officials reported smooth accreditation and voting processes, with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) functioning effectively throughout the exercise.
Security personnel were also deployed across polling centres to maintain law and order, while no major security breach or incident of violence was recorded.
Speaking during the exercise, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano State, Ambassador Abdu Zango, commended voters for their peaceful conduct and attributed the success of the election to effective planning by electoral and security authorities.

He noted that voter participation, particularly in Warawa Local Government Area, demonstrated growing public confidence in the electoral process.
Zango also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the BVAS machines, revealing that the devices were updated ahead of the election to ensure optimal functionality.
Similarly, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the level of peace witnessed during the poll.
He said the election showcased the benefits of collaboration among security agencies and increasing political maturity among voters.
Bakori added that security agencies would continue to strengthen measures aimed at ensuring peaceful and credible elections in the future.
The bye-election is widely viewed as an important test of electoral preparedness in Kano State and a possible indicator of what to expect during the 2027 general elections.
