The Kano State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Secretariat has called on non-state actors across the state to participate in the nomination and election process for membership of the OGP State Steering Committee and Thematic Lead positions.
The call was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity and Communication Officer of the Kano State OGP Secretariat, on Saturday, who urged eligible stakeholders to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to governance reforms in the state.
According to the statement, the invitation is open to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), media organisations, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and professional bodies to nominate qualified candidates.
It explained that the positions are within the Non-State Actors component of the OGP State Steering Committee and thematic leadership structure.
“This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, technology and innovation, as well as citizen participation in Kano State,” the statement said.

The Secretariat also reminded stakeholders that, as earlier announced on April 25, 2026, the deadline for submission of nominations is May 4, 2026, noting that late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
It further stated that positions open for contest include Civil Society Steering Committee members and Thematic Leads in key areas such as fiscal transparency, anti-corruption, citizen engagement, access to information, service delivery, access to justice, and climate change.
“Eligible groups are encouraged to nominate and submit qualified candidates before the deadline to ensure balanced representation and a credible electoral process,” the statement added.
