The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Professor Musa, has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to resolve outstanding welfare concerns through dialogue rather than industrial action that could disrupt academic activities.

The appeal followed concerns raised by the KASU chapter of ASUU over the welfare of lecturers, with the university management responding that while some issues remain unresolved, efforts are underway to address them progressively.

The Vice Chancellor urged the union to consider the potential impact of any strike on students and parents, warning that disrupting the academic calendar could create additional hardship for families.

He also advised ASUU to remain focused on the legitimate welfare interests of its members and avoid being drawn into partisan political activities.

According to him, constructive engagement remains the most effective means of resolving the outstanding issues between the university and the union.

The Vice Chancellor maintained that industrial action should only be considered as a last resort, particularly where government has shown a willingness to engage with the union and commit resources towards addressing workers’ concerns.
