The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) and Nasara Foundation, has commenced an eight-day free medical outreach aimed at providing general surgical procedures, medications and other essential healthcare services to about 4,000 patients across the state.
The medical outreach began on September 12 and will continue until September 19, 2026, at the Kebbi Medical Centre in Kalgo.
During the exercise, the State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Samaila Yakubu Augie, the Chief Medical Director of Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo, Dr. Abubakar A. Ka’oje, alongside members of the Nasara Foundation, inspected various sections and wards where patients were receiving treatment to assess the progress of the exercise.
Beneficiaries of the programme are receiving free medical consultations, surgical procedures, medications and other essential healthcare services.

Speaking during the exercise, the State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Samaila Yakubu Augie, expressed appreciation to the Nasara Foundation and WAMY for supporting the state government’s efforts to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare.
He said the partnership would go a long way in reducing the financial burden of medical treatment on patients, particularly vulnerable people and those who cannot afford the cost of surgery and medications.
The Commissioner commended the organisers for bringing the intervention closer to the people, assuring that the state government would continue to strengthen the health sector and improve access to quality healthcare across the state.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Nasara Foundation, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Bala, said the foundation remained committed to supporting programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people, particularly in healthcare, humanitarian services and economic empowerment.
He explained that the free medical outreach was part of the foundation’s efforts to support government programmes and provide relief to people in need of medical attention.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo, Dr. Abubakar A. Ka’oje, described the exercise as an important humanitarian intervention aimed at saving lives and improving the health and wellbeing of the people.
Dr. Ka’oje commended the state government, WAMY and the Nasara Foundation for the initiative, saying the provision of free surgical services would enable many patients to access essential treatment without the financial burden associated with surgical procedures.
The Team Leader of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) and Consultant Surgeon, Dr. Abdullateef Barnaun, said the organisation came to Kebbi State to collaborate with the state government and the Nasara Foundation in providing free healthcare services to the people.
He said WAMY remained committed to humanitarian activities, particularly in the area of healthcare and support for communities in need.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Government, WAMY and the Nasara Foundation for the intervention.
They described the medical outreach as timely and highly beneficial, particularly for patients who could not afford the cost of surgery and medications.
The beneficiaries prayed for the continued success of the partnership and called for more humanitarian and healthcare interventions to extend support to people in need across the state.
