The Governor of Kebbi Statwle, Nasir Idris has inspected the ongoing construction of a 250-unit housing estate in the state, expressing satisfaction with the quality and progress of work at the project site.
Governor Idris, who spoke during the inspection, said the project Tagged Kauran Gwandu Housing Estate had reached about 80 per cent completion and commended the contractor for adhering to approved specifications and maintaining high standards.
The Governor described the quality of work as solid and urged other contractors handling government projects to emulate the contractor by ensuring strict compliance with specifications.
He warned that his administration would not tolerate substandard or poorly executed projects, stressing that contractors must deliver value for public funds.
Governor Idris assured that the housing estate would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to providing decent and affordable accommodation for workers and other residents of the state.
He disclosed that, following the successful execution of the ongoing project, the state government would consider engaging the same contractor for additional housing schemes to provide accommodation for state and local government workers, teachers, federal workers, members of the media and other categories of residents.
“We want our workers, the state workers, the local government workers, the teachers, including federal workers and the press, to feel a sense of belonging,” the Governor said.
Governor Idris also disclosed that the state government had acquired a Federal Government housing estate and completed payment for the property, with all necessary documents secured.
According to him, arrangements are already underway to award contracts for the completion of the housing units acquired through the Federal Mortgage arrangement.
The Governor said the additional housing projects would further complement his administration’s efforts to address accommodation needs and improve the welfare and living conditions of the people.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing people-oriented projects and policies that would deliver tangible benefits to residents and contribute to the overall development of Kebbi State.
