Kenya’s Minister of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau, has confirmed his attendance at the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) and the 37th African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria.
Gitau also confirmed Kenya’s full participation in the global public relations gathering, which is scheduled for November 15 to 21, 2026.
The minister gave the assurance on Wednesday in Nairobi while receiving a Nigerian delegation led by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku.
According to a statement by NIPR Director of Public Relations, Stanley Ogadigo, Gitau described the WPRF as an African project requiring a continental approach and collaborative effort.
He said Kenya would support initiatives aimed at promoting Africa and projecting its potential to the rest of the world.
“I can tell you for sure, Kenya has interest to participate,” Gitau said.
During the meeting, Neliaku briefed the Kenyan minister on programmes and initiatives lined up for the 2026 WPRF, which he said had made the event unique.
Among them are the inauguration of what the NIPR described as the world’s first University of Public Relations and Leadership, Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival, Akara Festival and a seven-hour tailoring service for foreign guests.
Neliaku also presented Gitau with a letter of invitation from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and outlined plans for an African Ministers of Information Roundtable during the forum.
According to Neliaku, the roundtable, to be hosted by Idris for his African counterparts, is expected to explore lasting solutions to challenges surrounding information management and responsible communication across the continent.
The NIPR said the confirmation of Kenya’s participation further underscores the continental significance of the 2026 WPRF, which Nigeria is set to host in November.
