The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) has honoured outstanding academic and non-academic staff with awards and certificates in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the institution’s growth.
The awards were presented during the university’s 2025 Staff Performance Award Ceremony, where management said the initiative was aimed at promoting excellence, motivating employees and encouraging a culture of hard work.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director of the Proprietors’ Office commended the university’s leadership for institutionalising staff recognition, describing it as a key step towards sustaining excellence.
He urged the management to continue prioritising staff welfare, noting that improved motivation and recognition would enhance productivity and strengthen the university’s drive for academic excellence.
SolaceBase reports that the University Bursar, Dr Naja’atu Bala Rabiu, delivered a paper on the benefits of recognising employees, stressing that appreciation boosts morale, increases productivity, encourages innovation and fosters loyalty among workers.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, thanked the Proprietors’ Office, members of the university management and staff for their commitment to the institution’s vision.
He attributed KHAIRUN’s achievements to teamwork, dedication and shared responsibility, while paying tribute to the university’s Principal Officers, whom he described as the “wheels” driving the institution’s progress.
As part of the ceremony, Professor Garba presented specially designed roll-up banners to the Principal Officers in recognition of their resilience and support for the university’s continued development.
Speaking on behalf of academic staff, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Ado Dan-Isa, described the recognition as a morale booster that would inspire greater commitment and productivity.
Also speaking, the Director of Student Affairs, Maryam Nuhu Jallah, who represented non-academic staff, appreciated the management for acknowledging the contributions of employees, saying the gesture demonstrated that dedication and hard work are valued by the institution.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of awards and certificates to deserving staff members, reaffirming the university’s commitment to recognising excellence and strengthening its pursuit of academic and institutional development.
