Ghanaian fetish priest and self-styled witch doctor Nana Kwaku Bonsam has performed special spiritual rituals at his shrine in support of England striker Harry Kane, invoking his gods and ancestors to grant the forward a commanding performance in England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage clash against Panama.
Footage of the ritual shows Kwaku Bonsam seated at his shrine in traditional kente attire, surrounded by fetish objects and spiritual paraphernalia, with a small Ghana national flag visible among the shrine decorations as he conducted the prayers.
In a further demonstration of his devotion to the England captain, Kwaku Bonsam disclosed that he has named his newborn son after Kane.
The child, he said, was born 40 days ago, and to support his claim, the fetish priest displayed a birth certificate bearing the name Harry Kane Bonsam Jnr.
Kwaku Bonsam is no stranger to invoking football in his public spiritual activities, having previously attracted international attention for claims connected to various high-profile players and tournaments over the years.
England’s clash against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be a significant fixture in the tournament being hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The disclosure has generated considerable amusement and debate on Ghanaian social media, with many users questioning why a Ghanaian traditional priest is performing rituals in support of an opposing national team while Ghana’s own Black Stars are also competing in the same tournament.
