A growing number of women are reportedly travelling to Brazil to participate in spiritual cleansing ceremonies marketed as a “body count reset”, rituals that allegedly purge the energetic and emotional imprints of past sexual partners at a cost of up to $13,000 per session.
The ceremonies, which have attracted significant attention and debate on social media, are conducted in lush, nature-based settings and appear to incorporate flower petal blessings, water rituals, and emotional release practices rooted in spiritual traditions.
Footage circulating online shows participants seated in outdoor ceremonial spaces being showered with flower petals while practitioners conduct what are described as purification rites. Emotional embraces between participants and facilitators have also featured in widely shared clips, suggesting the ceremonies carry significant psychological weight for those who attend.
The concept of a “body count reset” draws on the belief — promoted by the ceremony’s advocates — that sexual intimacy creates lasting spiritual and energetic bonds with former partners, and that these bonds can be formally severed through ritual intervention.
The trend has generated polarising reactions online, with supporters describing the experience as genuinely transformative and healing, while critics have questioned both the scientific basis of the claims and the ethics of charging vulnerable women large sums of money for unverified spiritual services.
No regulatory body has commented on the practice, and the facilitators behind the ceremonies had not been independently identified at the time of publication.
