Lagos court sentences 13 to three months imprisonment for indiscriminate dumping of refuse

Thirteen individuals have been sentenced to three months in prison for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Lagos state.

 

The state government on Tuesday, June 23, arraigned the suspects before the Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi

 

The defendants pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them. Following their guilty pleas, the court convicted and sentenced each of them to three (3) months’ imprisonment.

 

The convicted persons include Jamiu Abdulkareem, Nwosu Martin, Abduljamiu Wasiu, Habeeb Muhammed, Kolawole Elijah, Anum Musa, Adeniyi Jamiu, Taiwo Olaniyi, Ali Muhammed, Paul Yaya, Damilare Adebowale, Ojo Fatai, and Abah Musa.

 

Confirming this development to newsmen, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, says the convictions underscore the commitment of the Lagos State Government to enforcing environmental laws and maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all residents.
