Traffic has returned to normal on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after motorists were trapped for more than six hours in a gridlock that disrupted movement along the major highway for much of the past 24 hours.
The Mowe-Ibafo X Community reported on Wednesday morning that traffic had eased, stating: “The road is totally free this morning.”
The update followed reports from motorists who spent more than six hours in traffic along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, one of the busiest routes linking Lagos with the South-West and other parts of the country.
Also reacting to the situation on Instagram, the Number One Welder of the Federal Republic of Nigeria described the experience ‘as a major traffic ordeal, highlighting the frustration faced by motorists who were held up for several hours’.
The prolonged congestion affected movement around the Mowe-Ibafo axis and left commuters travelling between Lagos and Ibadan stranded for extended periods.
The latest update, however, indicates that motorists can now move freely through the affected section, offering relief to commuters who endured the lengthy delays.
Motorists have been advised to remain cautious and comply with traffic regulations as normal movement resumes on the expressway.
