Lagos is preparing to host the 10th ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). The event will bring together arbitration experts, lawyers, business leaders, judges, and policymakers from different parts of the world to discuss the future of dispute resolution in Africa.
The conference is organised by the ICC International Court of Arbitration in partnership with ICC Nigeria. It will take place from June 3 to June 5, 2026, at the Lagos Continental Hotel. The theme of the conference is “A Decade of Excellence: Shaping the Future of International Arbitration & ADR in Africa.”
Activities will begin on June 3 with a special training session organised by the ICC Institute of World Business Law. The training will focus on how to draft enforceable arbitral awards and will give participants practical knowledge on the subject.
The main conference on June 4 and 5 will cover important topics such as cross-border business disputes, enforcement of arbitral awards, investment arbitration, energy and infrastructure disputes, and the role of technology and innovation in arbitration.
Organisers said the conference will also examine Africa’s growing role in the global arbitration system and discuss new trends, challenges, and opportunities in international arbitration and ADR across the continent.
Some notable speakers expected at the conference include Lateef Olasukanmi Fagbemi, Claudia Salomon, Dorothy Udeme Ufot, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Afam Osigwe, Lawal Pedro, and Funke Adekoya.
ICC Nigeria described the conference as an important platform for strengthening arbitration practice in Africa and boosting investor confidence through effective dispute resolution systems.
The event is expected to attract lawyers, arbitrators, corporate counsel, academics, regulators, and other professionals from across Africa.
Organisers added that hosting the conference further strengthens Nigeria’s position as a leading centre for international arbitration and legal innovation in Africa.
