Security forces have arrested a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group allegedly linked to the deadly attack on worshippers at a Juma’at mosque in Dekara, Borgu axis of Niger State.

The suspect according to Eons Intelligence was reportedly captured in connection with the attack, which occurred weeks ago and left several worshippers dead while others were abducted.

The incident sparked renewed security concerns across communities in the Borgu area, following reports of armed men storming the mosque and taking worshippers away.

The photographs, which circulated a few days ago, showed victims following the incident, highlighting the human cost of the attack and the continuing security challenges confronting communities in the area.

The arrest of the suspected Lakurawa member is expected to provide security agencies with further leads into the attackers’ operations, their networks and the whereabouts of those still missing.

Authorities have yet to publicly disclose the identity of the suspect or provide detailed information on the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
