The Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) has expressed sadness over the death of a security officer during a security incident at a cinema facility in Lekki, Lagos State.
The Board, in a statement by its Executive Secretary and CEO, Mrs Adebukola A. Agbaminoja, extended its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.
The LSFVCB also wished the person injured in the incident a “speedy and full recovery.”
The Board described the incident as a reminder of the need for stronger safety and security measures at cinemas and other entertainment facilities across the state.
“The unfortunate incident is a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining effective safety and security measures at cinemas and other entertainment facilities across Lagos State,” the statement said.
The Board said the relevant security agencies were continuing their investigations into the incident and urged members of the public to remain calm.
It also appealed to the public to refrain from speculation and the circulation of unverified information while investigations continue.
“The safety and well-being of cinema patrons, employees, and all stakeholders in the entertainment industry remain of utmost importance,” the Board said.
The LSFVCB further called on cinema operators and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry to regularly review and strengthen their security and emergency-response measures in collaboration with relevant security agencies.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the unfortunate incident,” the Board said.
