Dutch police are investigating a threatening video that may be connected to the deadly armed attack in Overasselt.
The unverified video shows four masked men. Three of them appear to be carrying automatic weapons.
One of the men reads a statement accusing a 28-year-old Overasselt resident, identified by Dutch media as Jan G. Jr, of stealing 1,283 kilograms of cocaine and two transport trucks.
The men reportedly gave him 12 hours to return the alleged shipment. They also threatened to kill his relatives, friends and business associates.
Police have not confirmed whether the video is genuine or whether the accusations are true.
NOS said the recording contains details that were not publicly known. However, investigators have not established when or where it was made.
The video appeared online on Wednesday, one day after more than 30 armed and masked men attacked a property on Ewijkseweg in Overasselt.
The incident happened at about 4 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
A 51-year-old security guard from Wijchen was shot dead during the attack.
The armed group also opened fire on police officers who arrived at the scene. Two officers suffered serious injuries but were not in a life-threatening condition.
Police arrested 34 suspects during the large operation that followed. The suspects include people from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Algeria.
Officers also seized weapons, vehicles and data-storage devices.
Media reports suggest that the violence may involve a dispute over a missing cocaine shipment. Police and prosecutors have not officially confirmed the motive.
Residents have raised concerns about their safety following the attack. Some have asked the local authorities to take action against the household connected to the incident.
The police investigation into the attack, the suspects and the threatening video remains active.
