A young woman has sparked conversations online after opening up about her decision to leave Islam and embrace Christianity, a choice she says led to a painful rift with her family.
Speaking during a roadside interview, she explained that she was raised in a loving Muslim home and received a strong Islamic upbringing. Although she attended mostly Christian schools while growing up, she said her parents ensured she remained grounded in her faith.
According to her, she struggled with questions about religion and spirituality for years, claiming she found it difficult to get satisfactory answers to some of the issues she wrestled with.
She said her journey took a new turn when she relocated to northern Nigeria for her tertiary education. There, she met her fiancé, a gospel artist, who introduced her to Bible study and deeper discussions about the Christian faith.
The woman revealed that after several years of learning, studying, and seeking answers, she eventually made the decision in 2024 to convert to Christianity.
However, informing her family about the decision reportedly did not go well.
According to her, her father reacted strongly upon hearing the news and expressed deep disappointment over her conversion.
She recalled him telling her, “I would rather see you dead than convert to Christianity.”
Despite the challenges and opposition she says she faced, the young woman maintained that her decision was the result of a personal spiritual journey and years of reflection.
Her story has since generated mixed reactions online, with many weighing in on issues of faith, family, religious freedom, and personal conviction.
