President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said national security remains the foundation for achieving Nigeria’s economic ambitions and ensuring lasting prosperity.
Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed this in a post on X on Friday after representing the President at the graduation ceremony of participants of Course 34 of the National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja.
He stated that the administration considers the safety and protection of lives as the baseline for business expansion and economic growth.
He said the government’s broader economic agenda is focused on stabilising macroeconomic fundamentals, strengthening local industries and attracting foreign investment.
According to the President, strengthening the armed forces and tackling criminal elements, bandits and terrorists remain central to the administration’s security priorities.
“Our economic ambitions accompany the duty to secure our people. The Armed Forces and security agencies continue to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, piracy, and organised criminality with courage and professionalism,” Tinubu said.
The President’s remarks came as he reiterated the link between security and economic development, stressing that sustained investment and business expansion require a stable and secure environment.
He also commended the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their efforts in confronting threats to national security.
