The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has commenced a specialised Human Capital Development training programme aimed at equipping 45 young Nigerians with advanced digital and technology skills needed to thrive in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
The programme, which began in Lagos and is being held at Four Points by Sheraton, Lekki, is designed to strengthen local capacity in emerging digital fields while supporting the industry’s transition towards technology-driven operations.
Speaking through the Board’s General Manager, Human Capital Development, Mrs. Alexis Emelle, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, described the initiative as a deliberate investment in Nigeria’s future workforce.
He noted that the training would help participants develop expertise in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Python Programming and Cybersecurity.
According to him, the programme reflects the Board’s commitment to nurturing globally competitive talent capable of driving innovation and enhancing productivity across the energy sector.
The training is being implemented in collaboration with Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited and will run for 12 months. Participants will undergo six months of intensive classroom instruction, followed by another six months of practical industry attachment to consolidate their learning through real-world experience.
NCDMB urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity by remaining dedicated throughout the programme and pursuing the professional certifications and industry exposure embedded in the training curriculum.
The Board said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to deepen Nigerian Content by investing in human capital development, building sustainable talent pipelines and preparing young Nigerians for opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital economy and energy landscape.
