The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected a new set of state executives in Kano following a congress held on Thursday.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the party after the elections, which confirmed the successful conduct of the exercise.
The party noted that the congress was conducted by the National Delegates Committee of the party from its headquarters in Abuja.
SolaceBase reports that at the end of the exercise, Hon. Hussaini Isa Mairiga emerged as the State Chairman, while Ali Datti Yako was elected as Deputy Chairman.
Other key positions saw Hon. Muntari Sanka emerge as Vice Chairman (Central), Bashir Kofa as Vice Chairman (South), and Bello Yandadi as Vice Chairman (North). Prof. Salisu Muhd Tudun Kaya was elected as State Secretary, with Balarabe Sarki as Assistant Secretary.
In the financial positions, Mansur A. Kurawa was elected Treasurer, alongside Abubakar Abdullahi Wudilawa as Assistant Treasurer, while Engr. Shamsuddeen Abubakar emerged as Financial Secretary and Tasi’u Abdulrahman as Assistant Financial Secretary.

Yusuf Fasaha was elected Publicity Secretary, with Abdullahi Tukur Dogon Nama as Assistant Publicity Secretary, while Barrister Dahir Ibrahim was returned as Legal Adviser and Abubakar Rufa’i Wali as Assistant Legal Adviser.
Other officials include Bashir Tijjani Maisango as Welfare Secretary, Yunusa Haruna as Assistant Welfare Secretary, Sunusi Surajo as Organising Secretary, and Abba Shehu Madaki as Assistant Organising Secretary.
Nura Musa Tofa emerged as State Auditor, with Amadu Baba Musa as Assistant Auditor, while Umar Abdulkadir Ahmad was elected Leader of Persons With Disabilities. Farida Kamba was elected Women Leader, with Hajia Hadiza as her assistant.

Also elected were Sunusi Hafez Oscer as Youth Leader and Abdulazeez Rabi’u Musa as Labour and Civil Society Secretary.
Six ex officio members were also elected, including Hon. Nura Mu’azu Wudil, Zaharahddin Ibrahim, Salisu Idris Adam (Ayo), Umar Yusuf Fantiya, Shehu Sabi’u Doki and Ibrahim Inusa Chiroma.
According to a local organising committee member, Dr Yusuf Kofar Mata, the congress was peaceful and well-coordinated, with the presence of security agencies and INEC officials ensuring adherence to electoral guidelines and credibility of the process.
