The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that its party primaries will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, while dismissing reports of purported winners and results already circulating online as fake.
In a statement released on Thursday by its National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party described the circulation of alleged primary election outcomes before the exercise as misleading and illogical, stressing that no candidate could have emerged since the primaries had yet to take place.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) wishes to inform the general public that our party primaries are scheduled to hold tomorrow, 29th May 2026,” Enekweizu stated.
“It is therefore impossible and illogical for any primary results or winners to have emerged when the primaries are yet to take place.”
The party urged Nigerians, supporters and members to ignore any unofficial reports concerning the primaries, insisting that only information issued through recognised party channels should be trusted.
“We strongly urge the public and all well-meaning Nigerians to completely disregard the fake NDC primary results and false rumours currently circulating. Any result that does not emanate from official party sources should be disregarded,” Enekweizu added.
The NDC further assured party members of its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible process.
“NDC remains committed to a transparent and credible primary process. We appeal to all our supporters and registered members to stay vigilant and ignore any unverified information.”
