Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has said Nigeria would experience significant changes if his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, becomes President.
B-Red made the remark during a 2023 interview on the Echoroom podcast, which resurfaced on social media on Tuesday, days after Adeleke secured a second term as Osun governor.
Adeleke, who contested the August 15, 2026 governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
During the resurfaced interview, B-Red was asked whether he believed his father could eventually become President of Nigeria.
The singer said although people had been discussing the possibility, he did not want his father to pursue the presidency because of the pressure it could place on the family.
“People are talking about it, but I don’t want him to be. I don’t want no stress on me, your daddy, I beg. Your father is the president; he did not do this,” he said.
However, B-Red described his father as a kind-hearted man and expressed confidence that he would improve the lives of Nigerians if elected president.
“But I know my dad, he has such a good heart, but if he does become the president, this country go change oh,” he said.
He further said his father would focus on addressing Nigerians’ needs rather than using public office to accumulate wealth.
“It will choke in every aspect. Because he’s not, he’s going to do everything that people want him to do. You know, I’ve been rich for a long time, so we’re not coming here to steal money, bro. I’m coming here to help people, you understand?” B-Red added.
