A Nigerian man has been left heartbroken after his girlfriend turned down his marriage proposal in front of her friends on campus, in a moment that has since gained widespread attention online.
According to the video, the young lady appeared to be marking her matriculation, gathered happily with friends to celebrate the milestone, when her boyfriend suddenly appeared, dropped to one knee, and pulled out a ring.
Caught off guard, the lady’s excitement quickly turned to shock as she realised what was happening, and to the surprise of many watching, she rejected the proposal on the spot.
Undeterred, the man remained on his knee, seemingly hoping she would reconsider. Even her friends, who were standing nearby, could be heard urging her to accept, but she stood firm in her decision, leaving him kneeling for what felt like an uncomfortably long moment.
Eventually, one of his own friends stepped in and gently pulled him away from the scene. As he walked off, visibly crushed by the rejection, he was seen shedding tears, unable to hide his disappointment and heartbreak in front of the crowd.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some sympathising with the man over the public nature of his rejection, while others have commended the lady for standing by her decision despite the pressure from those around her.
