Sporting Lagos staged a remarkable comeback on Wednesday to beat Enyimba 3-2 in Aba, handing the People’s Elephants their second consecutive defeat in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Enyimba appeared to be in control after establishing a 2-0 advantage in front of their home supporters, but Sporting Lagos fought back to overturn the deficit and compound the club’s difficult start to the campaign.
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Katsina United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
The Matchday Five fixture was settled by goals from Olanrewaju Ridwan and substitute Soqiq Adegoke, who found the net in the 18th and 62nd minutes respectively.
The victory provided a response from the Oluyole Warriors following their 3-1 defeat away to Plateau United on Sunday. Shooting Stars had opened their 2026/27 NPFL campaign with a 2-1 home win over Inter Lagos.
Salisu praises Shooting Stars’ response
Shooting Stars coach Salisu Yusuf welcomed the result, saying his players had moved on from the disappointment of their defeat in Jos and remained focused on achieving their targets for the season.
Katsina United coach Azeez Audu Mohammed, meanwhile, said the loss would not affect his team’s ambitions, stressing that the club would continue working towards its objectives.

The result lifted Shooting Stars to six points from three league matches, while Katsina United remained on four points.
Katsina United had entered the fixture after a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes but were unable to replicate that performance in Ibadan.
The Katsina-based side had earlier played out a 1-1 draw away to defending champions Rangers before suffering a 3-0 defeat to Kwara United.
Shooting Stars’ victory also avenged their 1-0 defeat to Katsina United in their previous league meeting in March 2026, although the last encounter between both teams in Ibadan ended in a 1-1 draw in November 2025.
Shooting Stars will next travel to face Warri Wolves on September 27, while Katsina United are scheduled to host Doma United on the same matchday.
