The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Monday, honoured the state Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Prof. Morufu Adeleke, with an Award of Excellence.
The award was in recognition of his contributions to curriculum studies, mathematics education, educational development, and public service.
A statement by his media unit, a copy obtained by NAIJAONPOINT, said Prof. Adeleke, who joined other eminent personalities and alumni, was given the award during the University’s 65th anniversary under the theme, “Honouring the Past, Engineering the Future.”
The statement noted that the anniversary lecture was delivered by Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, on behalf of the Minister of Education by Dr Tunji Alausa.
Before his appointment into public service, Prof. Adeleke built an accomplished academic career at Obafemi Awolowo University, rising through the ranks to become Professor of Mathematics Education.

He is widely recognised for his scholarly work in curriculum studies and mathematics education, and has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
Active in national and international academic circles, Prof. Adeleke continues to promote evidence-based planning, educational transformation, and sustainable development across academia and government.
