The Ogun State Government has said the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence in Abeokuta has attended to more than 600 patients since commencing radiodiagnostic services.
Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this in a statement shared on his X handle on Saturday, describing the 250-bed facility as a major investment in the state’s healthcare system.
According to Abiodun, the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence is a multi-specialty hospital equipped to provide specialised medical services across several fields.
He listed obstetrics and gynaecology, radiodiagnostics, orthopaedics, neurology, neurosciences, surgery and other specialised medical services among the areas covered by the facility.

“We are proud of the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence (GMC), Abeokuta, a 250-bed multi-specialty hospital equipped to provide world-class healthcare services across several fields,” the governor said.
Abiodun said the facility also has a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit and four modern operating theatres.
The governor disclosed that the centre’s radiodiagnostic capacity was being expanded following the treatment of more than 600 patients since the service commenced.
“Since commencing radiodiagnostic services, the Centre has already attended to over 600 patients, with capacity being expanded to serve between 3,000 and 4,000 patients in the coming months,” he said.
He said the investment was part of his administration’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare and provide residents with services in a purpose-built facility that meets international standards.
“This investment reflects our administration’s commitment to prioritising healthcare and providing our people with access to quality medical services in a purpose-built facility that meets international standards,” Abiodun said.
The governor said the state government’s focus at the centre was not only on medical infrastructure but also on improving patient experience and strengthening the broader healthcare system.
“At the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence, our focus is on delivering excellent patient care, ensuring the best possible healthcare experience and building a stronger, more responsive healthcare system for Ogun State,” he said.
