The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on whistleblowers across the world to provide actionable intelligence on monetary and non-monetary assets allegedly stashed abroad by corrupt Nigerians.
Olukoyede made the call on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, while delivering a lecture at the Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime in the United Kingdom.
The EFCC chairman urged whistleblowers with credible information on illicit assets outside Nigeria to come forward and assist the Commission in identifying and recovering such assets.
He said useful intelligence from individuals and organisations could strengthen efforts to trace funds and other properties suspected to have been acquired through corruption and moved outside the country.
Olukoyede’s appeal comes amid growing international cooperation in the fight against economic and financial crimes, particularly efforts to trace, recover and repatriate proceeds of corruption hidden in foreign jurisdictions.
The Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime brings together experts, law enforcement officials, academics, policymakers and practitioners to examine emerging challenges in combating economic and financial crimes globally.
Olukoyede’s lecture formed part of discussions on strengthening international cooperation and improving mechanisms for tracing illicit wealth across borders.
