OPay has dismissed as false a viral message claiming that the fintech company will suspend operations and go on an indefinite break from September 1, 2026.
The company, in a statement posted on its verified social media platforms, said it remains fully operational and has no plans to shut down.
“This is FALSE! OPay is not going on break by September. We’re here, and we’re going nowhere!”
OPay urged customers to disregard the viral publication and verify information through its official communication channels, warning that the fake message contained several red flags.
The company’s Vice-President, Public and Government Affairs, Dr Maxwell Loko, also described the publication as “false, malicious and misleading”, cautioning customers against withdrawing or transferring their funds based on the claim.
