Oshoala Sends Al Hilal Into Super Cup Final

Asisat Oshoala scored the winning goal as Al Hilal came from behind to defeat Al Ittihad 2-1 and book their place in the Saudi Women’s Super Cup final.

The semi-final, played at the King Fahd Sports City Stadium in Taif on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, featured three Super Falcons stars, with Ashleigh Plumptre scoring on her return from injury and Christy Ucheibe making her competitive debut for Al Hilal.

Plumptre, who captained Al Ittihad, opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, converting in the 45th+1 minute to send her side into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The goal marked an impressive comeback for the Nigerian defender, who was making her first appearance since undergoing foot surgery.

Plumptre looked lively on her return, but Al Ittihad were unable to hold on to their advantage as Al Hilal stepped up their pressure after the restart.

Al Hilal drew level in the 63rd minute through Albandari Mobarak, setting up a tense final half-hour.

Oshoala then produced the decisive moment nine minutes later, racing clear on a breakaway before keeping her composure to beat the Al Ittihad defence and put Al Hilal ahead in the 72nd minute.

Al Hilal held firm for the remainder of the contest to secure a 2-1 victory and progress to the final.

The match also marked Ucheibe’s first competitive appearance for Al Hilal following her move to the Saudi club. Ghanaian forward Alice Kusi also made her debut for the team.

Oshoala and her Al Hilal teammates will now turn their attention to Saturday’s final, where they will face Al Nassr for the Saudi Women’s Super Cup title.

After making a decisive impact in the semi-final, the Super Falcons forward will be hoping to lead Al Hilal to another major trophy.
