The Osun State Election Violence Relief Committee has commenced the sorting and review of claim forms submitted by victims of election-related violence in the state.
The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and Chairman of the committee, Adewale Egbedun, disclosed this in a post on his official X account, saying the committee reconvened immediately after plenary to begin the process.
Egbedun said the committee was committed to ensuring that all complaints and claims received were thoroughly verified and assessed.
“Immediately after plenary yesterday, the Election Violence Victims Relief Committee, under my leadership, reconvened to commence the sorting and review of the claimant forms submitted so far,” he said.
He assured victims that their submissions would receive fair consideration as the committee works towards providing relief to those genuinely affected by the violence.
“We are committed to leaving no stone unturned in the verification and assessment of all complaints and claims received,” Egbedun said.
He added that the committee would ensure that genuine victims receive the necessary support and appropriate compensation to cushion the losses and hardships suffered.
“Every submission will be given due and fair consideration to ensure that genuine victims receive the necessary support and appropriate compensation to ameliorate the losses and hardships they suffered,” he said.
Egbedun reiterated the committee’s commitment to ensuring that no genuine victim is excluded from the relief process, stressing the importance of transparency and fairness in the assessment of claims.
“Our commitment is to ensure that no genuine victim is overlooked and that the relief process is transparent, credible, and just,” he said.
The committee was established by the Osun State Government to verify claims by persons affected by election-related violence and oversee the disbursement of the state’s ₦500 million Election Violence Victims Relief Endowment Fund.
The committee had earlier called on victims of the August 15 governorship election violence to submit their cases for consideration, assuring that genuine claims would be verified and appropriate relief provided.
