Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has congratulated Vice-President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing his life as one dedicated to excellence, public service and nation-building.
In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, Otu said the milestone offered Nigerians an opportunity to reflect on Shettima’s “remarkable accomplishments, uncommon courage and enduring patriotic service”.
The governor praised Shettima’s transition from banking to public service and national leadership, describing it as an “odyssey defined by discipline, astuteness, enterprise and an abiding commitment to the greater good”.
Otu said Shettima’s banking career equipped him with valuable experience in financial management, strategic thinking and institutional leadership, qualities he said had remained evident throughout his public career.
He also commended Shettima’s record of service in Borno State and at the national level, describing his leadership as marked by intellectual depth, courage and an understanding of the complexities of governance.
The Cross River governor said Shettima’s ability to navigate difficult national issues with composure and statesmanship had inspired confidence in Nigeria’s future.
Otu described the Vice-President as “a patriot of considerable depth and a statesman whose contributions transcend the boundaries of political office”, citing his commitment to national cohesion, economic prosperity and institutional development.
He said Shettima’s 60th birthday was more than a celebration of age, describing it as “a luminous moment to honour an accomplished life and an enduring legacy”.
Otu prayed for continued good health, wisdom, strength and divine grace for the Vice-President, while wishing him greater fulfilment and success in the years ahead.
