Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved a new consolidated salary structure and official vehicles for the state’s three Headmasters-General as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and improve the administration of basic education.
The approval was announced on Friday by the Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti.
The beneficiaries are Mrs Monisola Oguntamore (Ekiti Central), Mr Isaac Ogunleye (Ekiti South) and Mrs Bola Omotoso (Ekiti North), who were appointed in June 2025.
Akinwumi said the initiative was designed to enhance school supervision, improve administrative efficiency and boost service delivery across public primary schools in the state.
According to him, the governor recognised the critical role played by the Headmasters-General in coordinating school activities, monitoring standards and driving improvements in teaching and learning.
He noted that the provision of official vehicles would improve their mobility and enable more effective supervision of schools, while the enhanced remuneration would boost morale and attract experienced education administrators to leadership positions.
“The consolidated salary structure and official vehicles will strengthen school monitoring, improve accountability and support better learning outcomes across the state’s public primary schools,” Akinwumi said.
He added that the approval aligns with the Oyebanji administration’s broader education reforms, which include the recruitment of teachers, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, classroom construction and renovation, provision of learning materials and continuous professional development for educators.
Describing the Headmasters-General as central to the effective management of basic education, Akinwumi said investing in their welfare would translate into stronger oversight and improved performance across public primary schools.
He also highlighted the state’s commitment to sustaining free and compulsory basic education while deepening collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission and development partners to improve educational infrastructure and learning standards.
The SUBEB chairman urged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating diligence, transparency and dedication to duty, describing the governor’s approval as a significant step toward strengthening basic education administration in Ekiti State.
