Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo, says the party is confident of reclaiming power in the state in the 2027 governorship election.
Alli stated this on Saturday after leading a delegation of APC leaders and Senatorial candidates from Oyo State on a thank you/introductory visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence.
He expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the election, citing the support of President Tinubu, party leaders and grassroots supporters across the state.
“I am very confident that, by the grace of God, come May 29, 2027, APC will reclaim government in Oyo State.
“With the support of our father, the President, our leaders and supporters across all strata of the state, we are sure of victory,” he said.
Alli said he would rely on his integrity, competence, experience and capacity to mobilise support across the state.
According to him, the calibre of leaders within the party, including senators, former deputy governors and other stakeholders, would strengthen the APC’s chances at the polls.
Speaking on efforts to unite the party after the governorship primary, Alli said consultations with other aspirants had commenced even before the exercise.
“I started reaching out to them before the primaries because I knew we all needed to work together.
“They assured me that if I emerged, they would support me, and our leaders have since commenced the process of reconciliation,” he said.
Also speaking, the Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, said the party was well-positioned to regain power in the state in 2027.
The former deputy governor said the delegation visited Tinubu to brief him on the outcome of the party’s governorship primary and preparations for the election.
“We have come to report to our President that we have been able to do what he wanted us to do.
“He was very happy and assured us of his support as we work towards the 2027 governorship election,” Adeyemo said.
The party chairman expressed confidence in Alli’s candidature, describing him as a strong contender with the capacity to lead the state.
He said the APC was focused on strengthening its structures and mobilising support across Oyo State ahead of the election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three APC senatorial candidates and other party leaders from the state Oyo were part of the delegation that visited the President.
