The Oyo State Government has declared a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park, with Governor Seyi Makinde approving the measure as part of efforts to maintain security in the affected areas.
According to a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and made available to journalists on Tuesday through the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the curfew will take effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
“The curfew takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026,” the memo stated.

It added that the restriction, which will run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily, “lasts for 48 hours in the first instance” and applies to local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.
The affected councils are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba local government areas.
Professor Babatunde stated that “the curfew, which is between 4 pm and 8 am, and lasts for 48 hours in the first instance, affects local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.”

The government urged residents of the affected areas to comply with the directive and cooperate with security agencies during the period of the restriction.
The affected local government areas are: Oriire (Ikoyi-Ile), Orelope (Igboho), Irepo (Kisi), Saki West (Saki), Saki East (Ago-Amodu), Atisbo (Tede/Ago-Are), Itesiwaju (Otu), Iseyin (Iseyin), Olorunsogo (Igbeti) and Atiba (Offa-Meta, Oyo).
