The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Adedeji Stanley Olajide, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, announced his resignation in a letter dated May 5, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 11, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of the state.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha.
According to the statement, the federal lawmaker said his decision followed wide consultations with his political associates, supporters and constituents.
In the resignation letter, Olajide described the decision as difficult but necessary.
He said he took the step because of prevailing realities within the party structure and his desire to continue his political journey in an atmosphere that supports inclusiveness, stability and progressive engagement.
The lawmaker said his commitment to public service remained unchanged, adding that his next political move would be guided by the interests of his constituents and his long-term aspirations.
Olajide noted that since joining the PDP, he had worked wholeheartedly for the growth and electoral success of the party.
He said his efforts and support within the party contributed to his emergence and re-election as a member of the House of Representatives.
The federal lawmaker thanked leaders and members of the PDP at various levels for the support and opportunities given to him during his time in the party.
He stated, “I remain profoundly grateful to the leadership and members of the party across all levels for the support, trust and opportunities extended to me over the years.”
Olajide said his resignation was taken in good faith and without bitterness.
He added that he still held members of the party in high esteem and would continue to value the relationships he built during his years in the PDP.
Although the lawmaker did not immediately disclose his next political platform, his exit from the PDP comes ahead of another election cycle and amid ongoing political realignments across the country.
Olajide assured his supporters and constituents that he remained committed to public service and would continue to pursue political engagements that promote development, stability and inclusive representation.
