Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the state funeral of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said on Thursday.
The 86-year old cleric, a fierce critic of Washington, ruled Iran for 36 years before he was killed on the first day of the U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28.
His funeral will begin in Tehran on July 4 and conclude with his burial on July 9 in his hometown of the northeastern holy city of Mashad.
