Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party and emerged as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State.

Pantami secured the PDP ticket through a voice affirmation during the party’s primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe.

The Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Gregory Yenlong, declared Pantami the party’s sole aspirant and subsequently announced him as the winner of the exexercise.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Pantami said his decision to contest the governorship seat was driven by his desire to serve the people of Gombe State.

He pledged to provide leadership anchored on fairness, justice, and inclusiveness if elected governor in 2027.

Pantami will now face Jamilu Gwamna, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in the forthcoming governorship election.

Before joining the PDP, Pantami had challenged the process that produced Gwamna as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate. He had initially opted to participate in the APC primary election but later withdrew on the eve of the exercise, citing alleged lack of transparency in the process.
