The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has said that the disagreement between Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has been peacefully settled.
In a statement released on Sunday, the council said people outside Ibadan who tried to make the issue worse were unsuccessful.
The statement, signed by CCII Publicity Secretary Kola Olomide, quoted the President-General, Ajeniyi Ajewole, saying the problem was resolved through internal discussions and traditional methods used in Ibadan.
Ajewole explained that the disagreement was handled quickly by Ibadan elders and leaders, so it never became a serious crisis that needed outside help.
He also dismissed rumours, saying no one is planning to remove Governor Makinde from office or remove the Olubadan from his throne.
According to him, the relationship between the governor and the Olubadan is strong and based on respect, like that of a father and son.
Ajewole warned people who tried to cause trouble to stop, adding that Ibadan is capable of handling its own issues.
He encouraged residents of Ibadan and Oyo State to stay calm and continue supporting peace and development in the area.
Ajewole also praised Governor Makinde for his work in the state, including building infrastructure, paying salaries and pensions on time, creating jobs, and improving security.
He also commended the Olubadan for his leadership and efforts to develop Ibadan, especially through committees focused on the economy and preventing land grabbing.
Finally, he said the council remains committed to maintaining peace and unity in Ibadan.
