The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Olubunmi Olusanya, has called on management staff of the ministry to strengthen teamwork and collective responsibility in delivering on the mandate of supporting vulnerable Nigerians.
Olusanya made the call during a management meeting held on April 30, 2026, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, where he emphasised the need for unity, commitment, and a shared sense of purpose among senior officials.
Addressing directors and top management staff, the Permanent Secretary said the ministry’s success in addressing poverty and humanitarian challenges depends largely on the ability of its leadership to work collaboratively and selflessly.
“Here, we work as a family and care for one another. We put others before ourselves,” he said, stressing that public service in the humanitarian sector requires sacrifice, empathy, and dedication.
He further noted that officers must align their efforts with the broader vision of government, particularly the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises social protection and poverty reduction.
Olusanya explained that the meeting was convened to review ongoing programmes and assess areas for improvement, adding that continuous evaluation remains critical to achieving the ministry’s objectives.
“The purpose of this meeting is to reappraise the activities taking place in the ministry and identify areas where we can improve our service delivery,” he stated.
He encouraged directors to deepen internal collaboration by holding regular departmental meetings and fostering stronger interpersonal relationships among staff to enhance operational efficiency.
The Permanent Secretary also used the occasion to welcome newly posted directors to the ministry, urging them to quickly integrate into the system and contribute meaningfully to its mission.
In a related development, Olusanya commended the outgoing Director of Poverty Reduction, Ruth M. Audu-Nunghe, who attended her final management meeting ahead of her retirement from public service.
He praised her for her dedication and contributions to national development, expressing optimism that she would enjoy a fulfilling post-service life.
Responding, Audu-Nunghe expressed gratitude to God and appreciated the opportunity given to her by the Federal Government to serve the country.
She also thanked her colleagues for their support and cooperation over the years, describing the ministry as a family united by a common purpose.
