The body of the former National chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Bamanga Tukur, have been laid to rest at his family residence in Yola South, Adamawa State.
Tukur was buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites shortly after funeral prayers attended by family members, friends and close associates, including billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and other government representatives.
TVC News Online reports that the family in a statement signed by his son, Awwal Tukur, said the deceased died days before his 91st birthday, September 15.
Tukur served as governor of the defunct Gongola State and later became National Chairman of the PDP.

He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Awwal, the Secretary to the Government of Adamawa State.


The family expressed appreciation to Nigerians and others who have commiserated with it over the death of the elder statesman.


Tukur’s death has continued to attract tributes from political leaders, government officials and other stakeholders across the country.
