The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Kano on Thursday night.
The visit was disclosed in a statement signed by Saifullahi Hassan, media aide to Kwankwaso, who said the former Kano governor met Obasanjo at the residence where the former president is staying during his official visit to the state.
The statement said that the meeting provided an opportunity for cordial discussions and exchanges between the two leaders.
SolaceBase reports that Kwankwaso and Obasanjo share a longstanding political relationship that dates back over a decade.

During Obasanjo’s administration, Kwankwaso served as Minister of Defence between 2003 and 2007 after his first tenure as governor of Kano State.
The two politicians have maintained mutual respect over the years despite belonging to different political camps at various times.
According to the statement, Obasanjo is currently in Kano on an official assignment.
It stated that Kwankwaso was accompanied during the visit by the NDC Governorship Candidate for Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

“His Excellency, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, PhD, FNSE, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, this night paid a courtesy visit to a statesman and former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, at his temporary residence in Kano,” the statement read.
The spokesperson added that the visit created an avenue for warm exchanges between the former president and the NDC leaders.
“The visit provided an opportunity for warm exchanges, with Sen. Kwankwaso accompanied by His Excellency Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the NDC Governorship Candidate for Kano State,” Hassan said.
No further details of the discussions were disclosed.
