A Ghanaian pastor has sparked discussions on social media after making a controversial claim that planting cocoyam in one’s home can attract curses and negatively affect a person’s life.
According to reports, Apostle Richard Kwame Owusu, founder and leader of Jelem Chapel International, made the statement during a recent sermon, warning his congregation against cultivating cocoyam around their homes.
The pastor reportedly claimed that planting cocoyam at home could bring negative consequences, including causing husbands to become womanisers and creating setbacks in people’s lives.
He further alleged that cocoyam planted around homes carries spiritual implications, claiming that the plant transforms at night and attracts what he described as spirits associated with prostitution.
Apostle Owusu reportedly challenged those who doubt his claims to observe the plant late at night, insisting that they would witness unusual occurrences.
