The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, announced the directive in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the commissioner, suspected cases of the infectious disease were reported in Jos North, Wase, Jos South and Bassa Local Government Areas.
The order applies to schools that had already resumed academic activities, with proprietors, administrators and teachers directed to suspend operations from Monday.

The state government said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard pupils, students and school staff amid concerns over the suspected outbreak.
It urged school authorities to comply with the directive and advised parents and guardians to keep their children and wards at home until further notice.
The government said it would announce a new date for the resumption of academic activities after assessing the situation.
“Further information on the resumption of academic activities will be communicated to the public in due course,” the statement said.
Diphtheria is a contagious bacterial infection that can spread through respiratory droplets and close contact, potentially increasing the risk of transmission in schools and other crowded environments.
