The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators in Imo State and recovered two AK rifles in separate operations across seven states.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of the police’s operational successes for Monday, August 24, 2026, highlighting arrests, weapons recoveries and responses to violent incidents recorded between August 21 and 23.
In Imo State, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators on August 21, including a man identified as the owner of a terrorist camp.
Police said two AK rifles were recovered from the suspects, comprising an AK-49 allegedly linked to the killing of a Homeland Security Guard and an AK-47 earlier snatched from Agwa Police Station during an attack in 2022.
The suspects are currently in custody as the police investigate to uncover the wider terrorist network. The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Owerri, is handling the investigation.
In Taraba State, police operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested a 50-year-old suspected manufacturer of illegal firearms on August 23 and dismantled what the police described as an illegal firearms factory.
Four locally made Dane guns and two single-barrel guns were recovered alongside tools allegedly used for firearms manufacturing. Police said the suspect was cooperating with investigators and had provided information on arms buyers, while efforts were ongoing to recover additional weapons and arrest other suspects.
In Plateau State, security personnel repelled an attack on Tanjol Village in Riyom Local Government Area on August 23, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding forest.
A joint search and rescue operation was subsequently launched, leading to the recovery of two injured security personnel who were taken to hospital for treatment. The SCID, Jos, is investigating the incident.
In Bauchi State, police arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man during a fight in Bauchi metropolis on August 22. The knife allegedly used in the killing was recovered as an exhibit, with the SCID, Bauchi, handling the investigation.

In Gombe State, police detectives arrested a suspect for alleged culpable homicide following a fatal assault in Gudukku District, Nafada Local Government Area.
The police said a 16-year-old victim sustained a serious head injury during a disagreement and later died. The suspect was arrested and is assisting investigators with the case.
In Ogun State, police operatives responded to reports of threats and an alleged cult-related attack in Kajola, Ikenne, on August 23.
One suspected attacker was arrested, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects who fled the scene. The SCID, Eleweran, is investigating the incident.
In Niger State, police responded to a mob action in Nasko following the death of two suspected thieves who allegedly attempted to dispossess an Okada rider of his motorcycle.
The remains of the two deceased suspects were recovered and deposited at the General Hospital, Nasko, while an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths and identify those involved in the mob action.
The police said the SCID, Minna, is handling the investigation.
The Force said operations were ongoing to trace and rescue victims where applicable, apprehend fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks.
