The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied issuing a governorship ticket to former Senator Danjuma La’ah ahead of the 2027 Kaduna State governorship election.
According to Punch, the party’s Deputy National Chairman, North, Alhaji Sidi Abdul Bomi, made the clarification in a telephone interview with the newspaper, dismissing as false a purported governorship ticket bearing La’ah’s name and circulating on social media.
Bomi said the document did not originate from the NDC and should not be regarded as evidence that La’ah had emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
The denial comes amid a dispute over the party’s Kaduna governorship ticket, with Mohammed Abbas and La’ah linked to competing claims over the nomination.
Abbas, who has maintained that he remains the NDC’s legitimate governorship candidate, said the party’s national leadership had already rejected the purported document.
He said the document was also forwarded to the party’s National Secretary for verification, with the official reportedly questioning its authenticity.

Abbas maintained that he obtained the party’s governorship nomination form, underwent screening and participated in the primary election conducted by the NDC in Kaduna.
According to Abbas, the primary election committee declared him the winner, and the party subsequently uploaded his name as its governorship candidate.
He further claimed that La’ah did not participate in the screening or primary election that produced him as the candidate.
Abbas said he was instrumental in bringing La’ah into the NDC, adding that the former senator initially joined the party to pursue the Kaduna South senatorial seat, rather than the governorship.
He expressed hope that La’ah would return to the senatorial contest, saying his political experience could strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 election.
Abbas also said he planned to engage La’ah and other stakeholders in Kaduna in an effort to reconcile the different groups within the party and build unity ahead of the election.
The controversy adds to the political uncertainty surrounding the NDC’s Kaduna governorship ticket as parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
