Police Repel Bandit Attacks, Foil Kidnap Attempt In Nationwide Operations

The Nigeria Police Force says its operatives recorded a series of operational successes across several states in the last 24 hours, including repelling bandit attacks, foiling a kidnapping attempt, rescuing trafficked children and arresting suspected criminals.

 

In Sokoto State, police operatives repelled a bandit attack after a gun battle, recovering five magazines loaded with 40 rounds of live ammunition.

 

 

The police said confidence-building patrols and bush-combing operations are continuing, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) investigates the incident.

 

 

In Plateau State, a joint team of police and Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel repelled an attack by armed assailants and restored normalcy.

 

 

Reinforcements have been deployed, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the fleeing attackers.

 

 

In Enugu State, police arrested five suspected cultists during a coordinated operation, recovering a pump-action gun and three live cartridges.

 

 

Officers also recovered a locally fabricated pistol following a suspect’s confession. Investigations are ongoing.

 

 

In Bauchi State, police, working with vigilantes and local hunters, foiled a kidnapping attempt.

 

 

One suspected kidnapper was neutralised, while three spent AK-47 shells were recovered from the scene.

 

 

Ogun State recorded multiple breakthroughs as police arrested two suspects over alleged cattle rustling, recovering six stolen cows and an abandoned vehicle.

 

 

In a separate operation, officers arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a stolen motorcycle.

 

In Ebonyi State, police arrested a murder suspect and separately dispersed a violent mob attack, restoring calm.

 

Tactical patrols have since been intensified while efforts continue to identify and arrest other suspects.

 

Police in Kano State also arrested a suspect over alleged child trafficking and rescued three female children.

 

In Lagos State, officers on patrol arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally fabricated pistol, while efforts continue to track down fleeing accomplices.

 

In Ondo State, two suspected kidnappers and armed robbers were arrested.

 

Police recovered a stolen Lexus RX350, two firearms, a stolen mobile phone and other exhibits during the operation.

 

In Akwa Ibom State, four suspected criminals were arrested based on credible intelligence, with a locally made pistol recovered.

 

Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest another suspect who escaped.
