A senior student at Prempeh College has been caught on camera tearing apart a Form 1 student’s shirt inside a dormitory at Opoku Ware House, after the younger student refused to remove the unprescribed shirt and give it up on demand.
Footage from the incident shows the two standing face to face in what appears to be a dormitory room, tension visibly building between them as the confrontation over the shirt escalates.
Rather than let the matter go after being turned down, the senior student took matters into his own hands, physically tearing the shirt while the Form 1 student stood there, seemingly unable to do much to stop it.
The clip has since circulated online, reigniting concerns about the treatment of junior students in some senior high schools, where unwritten rules around uniforms, personal items, and deference to seniors can sometimes tip into outright bullying and destruction of property.
It remains to be seen whether the school’s administration will take disciplinary action against the senior student involved, but the video has already sparked conversation among parents and former students about the culture of intimidation that can persist in boarding school dormitories.
