Black Stars forward Prince Kwabena Adu paid a courtesy visit to the Bandaman Royal Palace in Banda Ahenkro on Monday, July 13, presenting the signed jersey he wore during his FIFA World Cup debut to the Chief and elders as a token of appreciation for their support.
The Viktoria Plzeň striker was welcomed by thousands of people in his hometown following his return from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he helped Ghana reach the Round of 32 before the team’s exit to Colombia.
During the visit, Adu Kwabena presented the autographed jersey, signed by his teammates, to Nananom at the Palace.
Adu Kwabena, born in Sampa in the Bono Region, rose to national attention during the tournament after being denied what many considered a clear penalty in Ghana’s Group L match against England.
In recognition of his contribution to the Black Stars’ World Cup campaign, the chiefs of Banda Ahenkro presented him with a citation during the visit.
Responding to the warm reception from his hometown, an emotional Adu Kwabena promised to continue giving his best whenever called upon to wear the Ghana shirt, pledging to uphold the image of both his hometown and the national team.
The 22-year-old’s World Cup call-up followed a career marked by early promise at Bechem United, a serious knee injury that sidelined him for nearly two years, and a subsequent rebuild of his career in Europe with Viktoria Plzeň.
