The Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) has launched a science laboratory initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at improving science education and upgrading school laboratory facilities.
The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to supporting education and empowering communities through practical learning opportunities for students.
Speaking during the launch, SAHCO’s Executive Director, Business Development, Dr Babatunde Afolabi, said the project aligns with the company’s broader vision of promoting educational development and capacity building in communities where it operates.
According to him, education remains a major driver of innovation, growth and societal development, adding that access to practical science learning tools is important for students to fully understand scientific concepts.
“Science education equips young minds with the ability to question, to explore, and to solve real-world problems. However, effective science education requires more than textbooks and theory; it requires access to modern tools, practical experiences, and an environment that inspires curiosity and discovery,” Afolabi said.
He described the launch as another milestone in SAHCO’s efforts to support educational advancement, while also appreciating partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the initiative.
Afolabi added that SAHCO would continue investing in projects that create long-term impact in communities.
The Principal of Mafoluku Senior Grammar School, Kehinde Abidake, commended the company for the initiative, noting that the facility would improve the teaching and learning of science subjects in the school.
She also assured that the laboratory facilities would be properly utilised by students and teachers.
